Senior Product Compliance Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail Romania is looking for a Senior Product Compliance Engineer / Local Manager in Bucharest, on a full-time hybrid basis. The role leads the team of Product Compliance Engineers and prepares compliance dossiers for railway products under European and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team of Product Compliance Engineers.
• Prepare dossiers on compliance with REACH, RoHS, POP, RISL and similar regulations and standards.
• Manage the SFRD/CFRD BDG assigned to the local competence centre and coordinate with the global competence centre.
• Prepare dossiers on fire and smoke regulations EN45545 and/or NFPA130.
• Assess the applicability of EU directives on product CE marking and prepare the CE marking technical dossier.
• Carry out compliance analysis of hazardous substances in railway equipment and lifecycle assessments.
• Prepare export, brokering, technical assistance, transit and transfer dossiers for dual-use items under EU and US regulations.
• Develop innovative methodologies to be used as standards in the design of products and solutions.
• Ensure company standards are applied locally in line with the central Product Certification function.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering (preferred), Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering, or an equivalent technical/scientific background.
• At least 3 years of experience as a senior person leading a team.
• Willingness to work in an international team and excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of product HSE and chemical risk (REACH, RoHS, POP).
• Good knowledge of EN45545 and/or NFPA130.
• Knowledge of life cycle assessment methodologies.
• Understanding of electrical, electronic and mechanical components.
