BackEnd Engineer - Payment Platform (Compliance Team, Remote)

About the role

A client of Cross Border Talents is looking for a remote BackEnd Engineer to join its Compliance Team. You will design and build services focused on maintainability, performance and security, working on a payment platform described as "the most powerful, easy to use payment platform in the world". The role suits candidates interested in high availability, scalability, automated workflows, infrastructure orchestration, queueing systems, APIs and protocols such as GraphQL and gRPC.

Key responsibilities

• Build new features and enhancements for the payment platform.
• Work closely with the Frontend and Mobile Engineering teams to integrate frontend UI.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers and other stakeholders across planning, design, implementation, deployment and support.
• Keep the team up to date with the tech stack ecosystem.
• Write high-quality code with performance and scalability in mind.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Deep knowledge of several programming languages and their ecosystems; the team prefers JavaScript (Node.js), Python, Go and C/C++.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Relational (preferably PostgreSQL) and/or non-relational databases (e.g. Redis).
• Web semantics and revision control systems.
• Basic knowledge of standard development pipelines and build automation tools.
• Nice to have: API development, message queues (Kafka, NSQ, Pulsar, RabbitMQ), API integrations, performance budgets, cryptocurrency knowledge, community talks, certifications, blog posts or open-source contributions.
