About the role
Maersk is seeking an experienced Third Engineer for container vessels. The role involves engine room watch‑keeping, maintenance of generator engines and fuel injection equipment, and ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Perform engine room watch‑keeping duties as required.
- Maintain generator engines and fuel injection equipment according to the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Monitor and report any breakdowns, failures or deviations to senior engineering staff.
- Check stock of generator and fuel injector spare parts to maintain minimum requirements.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the generator engine room and other work areas.
- Ensure safe use of chemicals in line with Material Safety Data Sheet instructions.
- Instruct and supervise the use of safety, environmental protection, firefighting and lifesaving equipment.
Required profile
- Minimum 6 months sea‑time in rank on vessels with UMS.
- Experience on ships with at least 20,000 BHP engine size.
Required skills
- Generator engine operation and maintenance.
- Fuel injection system knowledge.
- Planned Maintenance System (PMS) familiarity.
