Electrical Engineer (Reefer) - Container Vessel

About the role

Maersk is recruiting an experienced Electrical Engineer for container vessels, a key position in the engine department. The engineer works under the Chief Engineer and the Chief Officer, inspecting and maintaining reefer containers and ensuring optimal energy use of the reefer plants.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect reefer containers and reefers, reporting any delays in inspection in the deck logbook
• Ensure optimum energy use of reefer plants through correct use of the freshwater cooling system and timely water cooling connections
• Inspect, maintain and repair reefer containers, and report all electrical checks and maintenance to the Chief Engineer
• Report to the Chief Officer and/or Master on reefer-related tasks during loading and unloading
• Analyse electrical and electronic plant, machinery, installations and equipment, and record and file maintenance and repair activities with stock control
• Assist the Senior Officer with electrical isolations and isolation permits, and supervise electrical maintenance by shore personnel
• Ensure regular work and rest hour planning and bring rest-hour issues to the attention of the Chief Officer, Second Engineer and/or Chief Engineer
• Confirm that the Reefer Operating Manual and Reefer Guidelines have been read and understood, and carry out PTI on empty reefer containers when requested by shore departments

Required profile

• At least 12 months of seatime experience
• Minimum 250 reefer containers handled
