Substation Automation Engineering & Commissioning Engineer

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY ROMANIA S.R.L. is looking for an Engineering and Commissioning Engineer in Bucharest to contribute to the development, engineering and commissioning of HV substation automation systems, including SCADA and protection relays. The role supports the delivery of engineering projects, helps customers and drives continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Apply standard engineering techniques to support testing, installation and commissioning.
• Contribute to commissioning strategies and their documentation.
• Take part in project reviews and represent the commissioning function in design and risk meetings.
• Support project managers with contract management, claims and risk assessments.
• Prepare technical documentation and help with sales proposals and presentations.
• Coordinate site activities to secure customer acceptance and certification.
• Work with supply chain teams to approve supplier technical solutions.
• Coach junior engineers and train them.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies and contracts.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment and support clients with technical issues and training.

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience commissioning and servicing HV/MV secondary equipment (protection relays, SCADA).
• Experience in electrical substation design and testing procedures.
• Clean driving licence and willingness to travel frequently within the country.
• Native Romanian speaker with good English.

Required skills

• Strong troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and technical reporting.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Communication and self-organisation skills.
