Hardware Component Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail Romania is looking for a Hardware Component Engineer in Bucharest. The engineer defines the component strategy for hardware components used in signalling systems and acts as technical interface to suppliers, product design, obsolescence management and projects. The work underpins product development and product maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a generic component strategy for hardware components such as resistors, capacitors, monitors and servers
• Ensure component standardization, availability and high quality through component engineering services
• Select and qualify components according to group-wide standards, check parts lists, interface with suppliers and manage the component database
• Work with product and solution owners to choose parts that meet their needs and review bill of materials
• Pre-check component documentation (data sheets, conformities) and create and maintain part numbers
• Maintain preferred parts lists and support obsolescence monitoring and the selection of successor solutions
• Create and manage component specifications and maintain data in product database systems

Required profile

• Completed studies, for example in electrical engineering or industrial engineering
• Experience in component engineering in automotive, aerospace, rail signalling, avionics or high-reliability electronic systems
• Very good English
• Analytical, communication and organizational skills, and a self-organized, team-oriented approach in international, multicultural teams

Required skills

• Very good technical knowledge of passive COTS components
• First-hand experience with databases is desirable
