Solution Architect - Global Payment & Settlement Services

About the role

ING Hubs Romania, which provides software development, data management, risk and compliance, audit and retail operations services to 24 ING units worldwide, is hiring a Solution Architect for its Global Payment & Settlement Services. You will join a team of 30+ domain and solution architects and ensure the design and implementation quality of IT systems, with emphasis on infrastructure, efficiency, scalability, reliability and security.

Key responsibilities

• Act as liaison between Domain Architects and DevOps teams, understanding business context, rules, architecture and processes.
• Turn regulations, policies and requirements into practical solutions.
• Document as-is and to-be processes and designs, including migration roadmaps and plans.
• Organize and support DevOps workshops such as Architecture Content and Architecture Review meetings.
• Apply architecture patterns such as Request/Reply, event-driven (Kafka), microservices and resilience patterns, and co-create cookbooks and developer training.
• Translate solution architectures into feature approaches and help DevOps teams estimate Epics, Features and User Stories.
• Keep up with platform architecture trends, especially cloud-native applications and the Well-Architected Framework.
• Escalate non-compliance with policies, procedures or regulations, and monitor service performance.
• Guide developers so that code aligns with architecture guidelines.

Required profile

• At least five years of experience as an engineer or architect.
• Experience in highly regulated environments such as financial institutions.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent.
• Advanced English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IT architecture methodologies such as TOGAF.
• Service management processes and agile work environments.
• Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly and to build partnerships with organizational leaders.
