Electrical Engineer (SF)

About the role

Maersk is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the engine department on container vessels. The role focuses on the inspection, maintenance and optimal operation of reefer containers and related electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair reefers, ensuring timely freshwater cooling connections and recording any postponements in the deck logbook.
• Monitor and report electrical checks, maintenance activities and reefers status to the Chief Engineer and Chief Officer.
• Assist senior officers with electrical isolations and ensure proper permits are issued.
• Supervise shore‑based electrical maintenance, manage work‑rest hour planning and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months sea‑time in a relevant rank with experience handling at least 250 reefers.
• Ability to analyze electrical/electronic plant status and maintain accurate records.

Required skills

• Reefer container inspection and maintenance.
• Electrical system troubleshooting and repair.
• Freshwater cooling system operation for reefers.
• Isolation procedures and permit management.
