Solutions Architect

About the role

Marsh Risk is looking for a Solutions Architect in Cluj-Napoca to lead its European Architecture Strategy and oversee its implementation through a portfolio of delivery initiatives. The role ensures that project-level architecture and technology decisions align with Marsh Risk Tech's medium-term (3 years) and long-term (5+ years) direction, advises senior management on enterprise roadmaps, and may act as the on-point Lead Architect on complex transformation programs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the European enterprise architecture strategy and guide its execution across multiple concurrent projects and programs.
• Act as Solutions Architect for complex transformation initiatives: provide decision-making leadership, resolve cross-team issues and ensure architectural consistency.
• Lead or coordinate Solution Architects and influence delivery teams to implement architecture as designed.
• Develop and maintain enterprise roadmaps aligned to business strategy, managing platform/technology obsolescence and architectural risk.
• Ensure solutions use appropriate patterns: packaged/COTS solutions, SaaS platforms, common services, IT platforms, cloud services (IaaS/PaaS) and reusable components.
• Produce high-quality artifacts covering conceptual and logical architecture, data and integration models (APIs/services), deployment and operating models, and security and resilience.
• Maintain and govern the Enterprise Architecture repository, review peer deliverables, and guide Solution Architects and IT communities.
• Work with vendors to evaluate products and assure solution quality, and participate in governance bodies, deputizing for the Head of Architecture when needed.

Required profile

• Typically 10+ years of experience in systems design/solution architecture, with strong web computing foundations and enterprise delivery exposure.
• Demonstrated success leading architecture across enterprise-scale applications and complex transformation programs.
• Strong experience producing architecture artifacts and communicating them clearly.
• Broad technology experience across custom-built applications, COTS solutions, SaaS and cloud services, and integration (APIs, REST, XML/JSON).
• Experience guiding delivery teams and strong vendor management and assurance capability.
• Ability to work in a global environment with in-house, contract and offshore teams.

Required skills

• SQL Server/T-SQL is specifically required.
• Preferred: TOGAF / ADM, Agile and DevOps, containerization, ESB/message broker technologies, and mentoring experience.
