Software Engineer – Python/C/C++ (Mid‑Level)

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a mid‑level Software Engineer to join its Romania team in Bucharest. The role involves developing and maintaining software modules for defence and space systems, collaborating in agile and traditional project environments.

Key responsibilities

• Review requirements, specifications and technical documentation.
• Create and maintain software modules primarily in Python, C and C++.
• Develop software on the system integration platform up to system acceptance.
• Conduct research and proof‑of‑concepts for emerging software technologies.
• Participate in project ceremonies such as Agile, Waterfall and V‑Model.
• Travel abroad when required by business needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of software development experience (systems programming a plus).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Fluent English.
• Clean police record.

Required skills

• Python, C, C++, Rust, Java.
• Scripting languages such as Bash and Perl.
• Testing and debugging in embedded environments.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols.
• Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Continuous integration, build and deployment tools.
• JIRA or similar ticketing systems.
