Senior Java Engineer - OMaaP - PSS

About the role

ING Hubs Romania, a software development hub serving 24 ING units worldwide, is hiring a Senior Java Engineer for its OMaaP (Order Management as a Platform) team within the Payment business. The team works in a Scrum environment with two-week sprints and follows a DevOps approach, delivering mission-critical software iteratively.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and evolve the OMaaP APIs and the order lifecycle: creating orders, routing them to the payment engine, warehousing them until execution and tracking their status.
• Design, develop, test, deliver and maintain high-quality software, including complex new functionality.
• Integrate APIs with Kafka, Elastic and Cassandra, ensuring data persistence and smooth communication between components.
• Work with Ops engineers to implement and optimise API integrations.
• Take part in Scrum: sprint planning, regular meetings and iterative improvement.
• Deliver working software to production every two weeks and set up delivery metrics in Prometheus for monitoring and alerting.
• Automate deployment, functional and technical testing and provide functional and technical support.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and maintaining Java (17+) Spring Boot microservices in a distributed environment.
• Ability to contribute to architecture discussions on service boundaries, data models, event-driven communication and performance.
• Strong problem-solving skills to investigate and fix issues in test, acceptance and production environments.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
