Senior Field Technical Service Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Field Technical Service Engineer to support its surgical equipment in Cluj‑Napoca, Romania. The role combines hands‑on engineering expertise with a strong customer focus, ensuring that installed devices operate reliably and meet specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair of Alcon surgical equipment across the assigned territory.
• Carry out preventive maintenance, installations and upgrades following company procedures.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues, including equipment start‑up challenges.
• Research and recommend new products or upgrades based on customer needs.
• Build and maintain customer relationships to support AMC/CAMC sales and renewals.
• Train customers on proper equipment use and maintain accurate service logs and technical reports.
• Escalate issues to engineering and cross‑functional teams and ensure compliance with GxP regulations and SOPs.

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering (electronics, electrotechnics, mechanics, mechatronics, or related).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in installation, service and maintenance of technical equipment; medical‑device experience is a strong advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high autonomy and organizational skills.
