RF Engineer – Short Range Devices (Bucharest)

About the role

HARMAN Automotive is looking for an RF expert for its Short Range Devices (SRD) team within the Connectivity SBU. The team is split between Karlsbad (Germany) and Bucharest (Romania), and the position is based in Bucharest. You will design RF for reusable blocks, modules and products using SRD technologies such as Bluetooth, WLAN, V2X, UWB and NFC, covering schematic, layout and simulation as well as measurement.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and validation of RF systems and short-range wireless devices
• Perform RF measurements, debugging and performance analysis in lab environments
• Use RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and signal generators
• Contribute to EMC and regulatory testing activities
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware and system engineering teams
• Analyze and troubleshoot RF issues in prototypes and products
• Create and maintain technical documentation, test reports and measurement results
• Integrate RF and regulatory requirements into product development and support Functional Owners

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or a related technical field; recent graduates are welcome as junior engineers with mentorship
• Working knowledge of English
• Willingness to travel if necessary and a valid driver's license
• Background investigation and drug screen required after the offer

Required skills

• Interest in RF and wireless systems (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB, NFC, RFID), HF engineering and HF simulation (ADS, HFSS)
• Basic knowledge of Linux and scripting
• Basic knowledge of RF measurement equipment and EMC
• Signals processing fundamentals and antennas
• Tools such as Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW are a bonus
