Railway Signalling Solution Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail Romania is looking for a Railway Signalling Solution Engineer in Bucharest. The railway signalling expert designs, develops, implements and maintains advanced railway signalling systems, ensuring their safety, efficiency and reliability through expert use of signalling principles and technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop railway signalling solutions, including interlocking systems and automatic train control (ATC).
• Analyse existing signalling infrastructure and identify areas for improvement and modernisation.
• Prepare technical specifications and design documents for new and upgraded signalling systems.
• Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers and project managers to integrate signalling solutions with broader railway systems.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for signalling issues during development, deployment and operation.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends and regulatory changes in railway signalling.
• Contribute to improving engineering processes and best practices.
• Take part in client meetings, presentations and site surveys to represent Hitachi's signalling expertise.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Railway Systems Engineering or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of railway signalling principles, standards (e.g. CENELEC, Romanian national rules) and safety regulations.
• Proven experience with signalling technologies such as interlocking systems, ATC and ETCS.
• Project management exposure in railway infrastructure projects.
