Electronic Component Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail Romania is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Electronic Component Engineer to join its obsolescence management design team. The role helps minimise electronic component and design risk across the product portfolio, working with industrialisation, engineering, research and development, quality, procurement and manufacturing on new and existing products. The position is full-time and hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Work with engineering, quality, procurement and manufacturing leadership to establish component engineering processes.
• Implement COTS risk management strategies to address obsolescence and proactively identify future obsolescence risks.
• Review design BOMs, carry out part lifecycle analysis and work with engineering and R&D to develop strategies for alternative technical solutions that reduce supply chain risk.
• Monitor and manage component obsolescence using internal processes and IT tools such as SAP, Teamcenter, R&BOM review, IHS and the PDM system.
• Resolve diminishing manufacturing sources (DMS) and end-of-life (EOL) component issues.
• Implement COTS-related problem reporting and design changes in close cooperation with the other technical departments involved.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an electrical or electronic discipline, or a technician qualification with 6+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Aptitude for communication, collaboration and cooperation with a variety of stakeholders.
• Good English proficiency; level B1 is welcome.
