DevOps Engineer

About the role

ING Hubs Romania, which supports 24 ING units worldwide with software development, data management, risk and compliance, audit and retail operations, is looking for a DevOps Engineer. You will help enable the reliability, scalability and operational excellence of a strategic platform supporting ING's sustainability ambitions, and build the engineering ecosystem that lets teams deliver software efficiently, securely and at scale. You will work closely with software engineers, data professionals and platform teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD solutions for efficient and reliable software delivery.
• Develop and improve infrastructure automation, deployment processes and operational workflows.
• Support and evolve containerized application environments and platform capabilities.
• Partner with software engineers to improve deployment reliability, observability and platform stability.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting and operational dashboards.
• Contribute to platform security, resilience and operational risk reduction.
• Investigate and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks and infrastructure challenges.
• Help define and promote DevOps standards and operational excellence, and support disaster recovery, backup and service continuity.
• Mentor colleagues and promote automation, reliability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field (required).
• Master's degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
• Extensive experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and experience with containerization and Kubernetes-based platforms (the Gaia ecosystem uses Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Experience operating production workloads in cloud or hybrid environments and troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
• Ability to automate repetitive operational tasks through scripting and tooling, and to take ownership of production environments.

• Nice to have: Azure DevOps or Azure Pipelines, Kubernetes/OpenShift, API Gateway, NGINX, cloud storage, security controls, ESG/risk/financial services experience, mentoring experience.
