AI Engineer - Wholesale Banking Lending

About the role

ING Hubs Romania, a software development hub serving 24 ING units worldwide, is hiring an AI Engineer for its Wholesale Banking Lending Tech organization. The AI Chapter delivers AI-driven capabilities in lending, including data extraction, AIOps and intelligent automation, and works with engineering squads, data teams and business stakeholders to build and scale AI use cases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and scale AI/GenAI and machine learning use cases in the lending domain
• Translate business problems into data-driven, AI-enabled solutions
• Work with modern AI and cloud stacks (Python, APIs, CI/CD, cloud platforms such as GCP)
• Collaborate with engineering teams and business stakeholders across multiple squads
• Contribute to automation, data extraction and intelligent decision-support solutions
• Support end-to-end delivery, including prototyping, testing, deployment and documentation

Required profile

• Strong programming skills in Python (Java is a plus)
• Knowledge of machine learning, NLP or LLM-based solutions
• Familiarity with APIs and software engineering best practices
• Understanding of CI/CD, the software lifecycle and cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure)
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional environment
