Software Engineer C++ - Telematics

About the role

HARMAN Automotive is looking for a C++ Software Developer for its Telematics team in Bucharest. Telematics connects the car's internal ecosystem to the Internet, turning the vehicle into an IoT device and opening up new features in safety, security and comfort. The role works with concepts such as Telematics, 5G and V2X.

Key responsibilities

• Study and understand customer and internal specifications, and develop component design documents based on them and the given software architecture.
• Develop software components in C++/Linux, debug them with gdb, and perform functional testing and code reviews.
• Analyze existing embedded software to add features, fix bugs and port to other platforms, and specify and run unit tests.
• Identify product requirements or performance issues and work with the software team leader to resolve them.
• Coordinate with peers across the HARMAN group, including occasional travel for training, and work with customers to refine requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or another relevant IT-related field.
• At least 4+ years of experience as a software developer.
• Good English, written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel 0-20% of the time depending on project needs.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of C++ (proven by 3+ years of experience).
• Good knowledge of Embedded Linux and embedded application development.
• Knowledge of inter-process communication, threading and socket communication.
• Working knowledge of software development processes and embedded operating systems.
• Bonus: TCP, UDP, MQTT, CAN, UML, SCRUM, SAFe Agile and Linux kernel experience.
