Maintenance Software Engineer C++ (Telematics)

About the role

HARMAN Automotive is looking for a Maintenance Software Engineer C++ in its Telematics team in Bucharest. Telematics connects the car's internal ecosystem to the Internet, turning the vehicle into an IoT device and opening up new features in safety, security and comfort. You will be responsible for the platform software and external software components and act as the main specialist for these topics in maintenance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements and map them to new or existing software architectures, documenting the architecture and presenting it to management, sales and customers.
• Manage the implementation of the software architecture with local and remote teams, considering automotive SPICE and functional safety requirements.
• Review HDD and DDD and verify them against product features, and provide impact analysis and time/cost estimates for design changes.
• Develop and test software components (white-box testing), analyze malfunctions and identify root causes of system issues.
• Act as technical expert and consultant for the assigned area, mentor less experienced engineers and ensure compliance with automotive standards and development processes.
• Monitor development status and quality through design and code reviews, and perform bug fixing and maintenance.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience as a software developer.
• Automotive experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another relevant IT field.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid model, 3 days per week from the Bucharest office, and successful completion of a background investigation.

Required skills

• C++ and Linux expertise.
• Embedded application development.
• OpenSSL, TLS, AUTOSAR (software components, RTE, BSW).
• SomeIP, CAPI, DBus, TCP, UDP; inter-process communication, threading, sockets.
• Unit tests, debugging with software or hardware debuggers, embedded operating systems.
• Bonus: cryptographic algorithms and memory-protection techniques.
