Senior Oracle Data Platform Engineer (Exadata Specialist)

About the role

ING Hubs Romania, a software development and data management hub serving 24 ING units worldwide, is looking for an Oracle DBA – Exadata Specialist. You will administer, optimise and improve mission-critical Oracle databases supporting large-scale data warehouse workloads, using Oracle Exadata to ensure high performance, availability and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Perform SQL tuning and performance optimisation on large-scale data warehouse databases
• Develop and maintain PL/SQL components such as stored procedures, functions, packages and triggers
• Manage and maintain Oracle 19c/21c databases on Oracle Exadata platforms
• Monitor and tune performance using AWR, ASH, ADDM, execution plan analysis and Exadata features
• Diagnose and resolve issues across databases, storage cells, networking and clusters
• Leverage Exadata capabilities such as Smart Scan, Smart Flash Cache, Storage Indexes, Hybrid Columnar Compression and IORM
• Work with engineering and application teams on incident investigation, root cause analysis and long-term fixes
• Automate operations with Bash, Python, Ansible or similar tools
• Contribute to standards, procedures, documentation and knowledge sharing, and support security, compliance and risk management

Required profile

• 5+ years of Oracle database administration in enterprise environments
• 3+ years of hands-on Oracle Exadata experience on production workloads
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Nice to have: bachelor's degree (or higher) in an IT-related field

Required skills

• PL/SQL development (stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers)
• SQL performance tuning and execution plan analysis
• AWR, ASH and ADDM usage
• Bash, Python, Ansible or similar scripting and automation
• Good understanding of Linux or other Unix-like systems
• Nice to have: Oracle Exadata Cloud Service or Exadata Cloud@Customer, ETL/ELT tools such as IBM DataStage, monitoring tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager, Prometheus or Grafana, Oracle certifications, cloud data platform experience
