Platform Architect - Procurement

About the role

METRO.digital, the digital arm of METRO, a leading international wholesaler of food, is looking for a Platform Architect to shape and evolve its Procurement platform, which supports direct procurement of goods for resale. The role translates business transformation needs into architectural designs and roadmaps, and is a strategic position within the company's ongoing transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Define the platform architecture strategy and roadmap, including the target solution landscape and cross-platform dependencies
• Design scalable and secure architectures that balance performance, reliability, cost and security
• Select and govern technology, set standards and guardrails, and guide design decisions with Enterprise Architecture and the Design Council
• Drive automation, observability, resilience and performance improvements, and monitor platform KPIs
• Keep architectural documentation up to date in tools such as LeanIX, Confluence and SharePoint

Required profile

• Expert experience in procurement processes, systems or SaaS platforms (must-have)
• Experience in wholesale, retail and supply chain technology landscapes
• Proven architectural experience in cloud and SaaS environments
• Ability to connect platform evolution with business strategy and enterprise architecture principles
• Strong collaboration skills across squads, product teams and enterprise architects

Required skills

• Oracle 12c (Forms, SQL and PL/SQL)
• Cloud-native architectures, APIs, integration patterns and microservices
• DevOps/SRE practices, automation and observability
