Observability Platform Engineer

About the role

We are building LSEG's internal observability platform to give hundreds of engineering teams a unified view of telemetry, dashboards, alerts and service health. This product‑focused engineering role involves designing, building, testing and documenting features from the backlog.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Cribl pipelines for routing, normalisation, enrichment and fan‑out of telemetry data.
• Develop and manage Cribl packs to standardise pipeline logic across teams.
• Implement OpenTelemetry collector configurations for metrics, logs, traces and events.
• Design ClickHouse schemas for efficient telemetry storage and query performance.
• Build Grafana dashboards and alerting configurations for platform and user teams.
• Create integrations with Datadog, BigPanda and other downstream systems via APIs and automation.
• Write Terraform IaC for platform components and contribute to CI/CD and GitOps workflows.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Cribl pipelines and packs in production.
• Proven track record delivering production‑quality features in a software or platform engineering team.
• Strong fundamentals in readable code, testing, version control and code reviews.
• Experience building integrations using REST APIs or event‑driven patterns.
• Familiarity with Terraform, CI/CD tooling and GitOps practices.
• Understanding of telemetry concepts such as metrics, logs, traces, cardinality and retention.
