Medical Representative – Ophthalmology

About the role

Santen, a Japan-originated life sciences company focused on ophthalmology, is hiring a Medical Representative in Iași. The representative acts as a brand ambassador, building relationships with ophthalmologists in clinics and selected practices, driving new prescribers, increasing prescription volume and strengthening market presence in the assigned region. The role also involves representing Santen at conferences and meeting regional targets.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with ophthalmologists, clinics, pharmacies, optical stores, retail and wholesale customers through regular, planned visits.
• Promote Santen products with accurate scientific and commercial information, and take part in local educational meetings, presentations, congresses, company events and training.
• Achieve sales, distribution and territory objectives by ensuring product availability, visibility and stock levels, and run promotional activities such as OTC orders, annual agreements and product samples.
• Maintain customer records in Veeva CRM and submit sales, activity, expense and territory reports on time, keeping daily and monthly plans up to date.
• Monitor customer payment terms and receivables, and work with the Line Manager on customer segmentation and commercial terms.
• Report adverse events, product complaints and safety information promptly, supporting pharmacovigilance.
• Take part in mandatory training and apply best practices in customer interactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Healthcare, Life Sciences or a related field; qualified Pharmaceutical Representative or Natural Scientist.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales or a similar commercial role; ophthalmology experience is an advantage.
• Comfortable in a performance-driven environment, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Good command of Romanian and conversational English.
• Valid Category B driving licence.

Required skills

• PC skills including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Confidence with digital tools such as iPad, laptop, iPhone, OCE and CRM systems.
• Willingness to use e-detailing and remote calls.

What we offer

• Base salary starting from RON 128,594 to RON 176,816 gross per year, depending on experience and location.
