Java Software Developer – KDB Data and Dashboards

About the role

ING Hubs Romania, a software development hub serving 24 ING units worldwide, is looking for a Java developer to contribute to its data platform built on KDB, the low-latency, column-oriented database used in financial markets for real-time and historical data. The role sits in the KDB Data and Dashboards team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality code.
• Develop and maintain feed handlers.
• Work on automated testing and monitoring solutions.
• Understand the KDB architecture and technology.
• Learn the q language and understand business concepts.
• Work in an agile way, closely with the Product Owner to define next steps and clarify business requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Java (Java 17).
• University degree in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent.
• Advanced English.
• Eagerness to learn q, KDB architecture and processes, and about Financial Markets.

Required skills

• Multi-threading and familiarity with automated testing.
• Relational databases and SQL.
• Source control, CI/CD and documentation tools (Azure DevOps, Confluence, Git, Maven).
• Design patterns, testing and debugging.
• Nice to have: C++ (can be compensated by willingness to learn), CMake, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Spring Boot, application security concepts, and Financial Markets knowledge.
