Global IT Category Buyer (m/f/d)

About the role

BASF Agricultural Solutions is preparing to become an independent, pure-play agricultural company within the BASF group and is looking for a Global IT Category Buyer in Bucharest. The role covers the procurement of a broad range of global IT categories, including software, SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, telecommunications and IT services.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into sourcing activities and ensure efficient, compliant and cost-effective delivery of IT solutions.
• Manage operational sourcing and purchasing, from RFx processes and supplier evaluations to purchase orders, contract administration and invoicing.
• Act as a trusted partner for internal stakeholders, gathering requirements and guiding them through sourcing processes.
• Work with IT, Finance, Legal, Accounts Payable and Vendor Management colleagues, and with suppliers worldwide on onboarding, performance monitoring and relationship building.
• Maintain procurement and contract data, monitor renewals and commercial terms, and support improvements to processes, tools and compliance.
• Conduct market research and supplier landscape analysis to support sourcing decisions and category strategy.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Economics, Engineering or a comparable field.
• Professional experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, IT, business administration or a related area, preferably in an international or multinational environment.
• Strong interest in technology-related categories (software, SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, telecoms) and willingness to develop category expertise.
• Excellent English communication skills and the ability to work with international stakeholders and suppliers.

Required skills

• Experience with procurement or ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer).
• Confident use of MS Office, especially Excel and data analysis tools.
• Digital and AI focus, with a proactive, structured approach and attention to detail.
