Full Stack Java Engineer – Sustainability Applications

About the role

ING Hubs Romania, a software development hub serving 24 ING units worldwide, is looking for a Full Stack Java Engineer in Bucharest. You will build and evolve user-facing applications that give business users access to sustainability and emissions insights, working with product, UX, data and business experts.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evolve user-facing applications providing sustainability insights, portfolio steering and emissions decision support.
• Develop backend services, APIs and integrations for collecting, processing and delivering sustainability data.
• Work with Product Owners, UX Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Engineers to turn sustainability requirements into scalable digital products.
• Contribute to technical design and architecture, and support the expansion of the web application landscape.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring and continuous delivery, and improve engineering standards and platform reliability.
• Mentor colleagues, share knowledge and raise the engineering maturity of the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field (required).
• Strong experience designing, developing and maintaining modern software applications, including scalable web apps and distributed systems.
• Extensive front-end and back-end experience, and experience with REST APIs and service-based architectures.
• Experience with relational databases, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Agile experience, ownership of complex topics and ability to mentor engineers.

Required skills

• Java, Kotlin or other JVM-based technologies.
• Modern front-end frameworks, preferably React and TypeScript.
• Nice to have: cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, data engineering concepts, and experience in sustainability, ESG or climate domains.
