Software Engineer - Calls (Telematics)

About the role

HARMAN Automotive is looking for a C++ Software Developer for its Telematics team in Bucharest. The team develops software for the automotive industry, focusing on call-related components. Telematics connects the car's internal ecosystem to the Internet, turning the vehicle into an IoT device, and the role involves concepts such as Telematics, 5G and V2X.

Key responsibilities

• Review software specifications, architecture and design documents, and study customer and internal specifications
• Develop component design documents and write software components in C++/Linux
• Clarify unclear technical requirements by talking directly with internal and external stakeholders
• Perform functional testing, take part in code reviews and follow automotive software development standards
• Analyze embedded software to add features, fix bugs or port to other platforms, and specify and run unit tests
• Debug using gdb, provide root cause analysis and coordinate with the software team leader and customers
• Occasionally travel for training or coordination, and possibly direct 1-2 other engineers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another relevant IT-related field
• At least 3+ years of experience as a software developer
• Good written and spoken English
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time depending on project needs

• Solid C++ and Linux expertise
• Embedded application development
• Inter-process communication, threading and socket communication
• Working knowledge of software development processes and embedded operating systems
• Bonus: multithreading, asynchronous middleware for modems, ESIM/VoLTE/3GPP, call handling workflows, VoIP, automotive experience, SOME/IP, CAPI, TCP/UDP, UML, Scrum/SAFe, connectivity protocols, RedBend, diagnostics, secure boot, Linux kernel
