Senior Software Development Manager

About the role

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is looking for a hands-on Development Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team delivering strategic services for its flagship LSEG Workspace platform. The role sits at manager level and involves shaping the future of the technology ecosystem while building a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the full development lifecycle: requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, unit testing and integration, with iterative releases aligned to the product roadmap.
• Provide hands-on support by writing code, reviewing code and doing system design.
• Partner with business, product and engineering teams to define and refine requirements for improving the Workspace services.
• Work with DevOps to ensure reliability, scalability and robust monitoring of infrastructure.
• Communicate business and technical strategy to the team, report regularly to the Development Director on progress, architecture decisions and blockers, and mentor team members and take part in recruitment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Track record managing multiple projects and complex product cycles in an Agile environment, and leading distributed, cross-functional teams to software delivery.
• Ability to define technical vision and architecture, make engineering trade-offs and lead teams from design through delivery.
• Comfortable using AI-enabled tools such as copilots and automation, and able to turn customer needs into clear requirements.
• Strong communication, analytical and leadership skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions to senior leaders.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines and at least one backend programming language.
• Advantageous: Azure, Terraform and Python.
• Modern web technologies, Linux, containerisation and high-volume distributed systems.
• API gateways or web traffic management tools are beneficial.
