Senior Oracle Database Specialist

About the role

LSEG's DataScope suite of applications, part of its Pricing and Reference Service business, serves about 1,500 external clients who download pricing and reference data for fund analysis. As a Senior Oracle Database Specialist within Data Platforms, you will serve data needs across asset classes, latency and delivery mechanisms, including real-time data, reference and legal entity data. You will design and implement changes to Oracle databases on Azure, AWS and on-premises.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement enhancements across Oracle database platforms, including new features, performance tuning and Oracle cluster management.
• Support business and technology programmes while keeping database platforms within product SLOs.
• Represent the Back-End Engineering team with Architecture, DevOps, Product and other stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead data platform transformation, including modern ETL and data integration solutions.
• Use AI and automation across the SDLC to improve productivity, code quality, testing and operational efficiency.
• Ensure solutions meet SLAs for availability, scalability, resilience and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle databases in a low-latency, high-volume environment.
• Experience designing data architecture and ETL dataflows, and tuning Oracle databases and managing Oracle clusters.
• Experience with Liquibase or similar version control, and ability to work in an Agile team.
• Experience in financial market data or financial products is highly desired.

Required skills

• Solid grasp of Oracle architecture and hands-on PL/SQL (packages, functions, ref cursors).
• Creating packages, functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers.
• Oracle certification (e.g. OCP) and experience with Oracle Exadata, Oracle RAC or other high-availability solutions.
