Lead IT Network Engineer

About the role

Garmin is seeking a Lead IT Network Engineer to own the operation, stability and continuous improvement of its enterprise and data‑center network environments. The role combines hands‑on technical work with mentorship and strategic roadmap planning.

Key responsibilities

• Define team roadmap and priorities, driving innovation and continuous improvement.
• Lead major incident troubleshooting across wireless, campus switching, NAC and data‑center domains.
• Mentor junior IT Administrators and facilitate team discussions.
• Research and propose cost‑effective new networking technologies.
• Coordinate non‑project changes at department level.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 9 years of enterprise networking experience, especially large‑scale wireless and data‑center design.
• Proven ability to operate in fast‑paced, operations‑focused environments with real‑time incident response.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Required skills

• Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, access points, RF design and performance optimization.
• Cisco Catalyst (IOS‑XE) switching, Cisco ISR/ASR routing platforms.
• Cisco Nexus (NX‑OS), leaf‑spine, VXLAN/EVPN, Cisco ACI.
• Cisco ISE for network access control and policy enforcement.
• Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, port‑channeling.
• Network monitoring tools: SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog.
• Network security concepts: ACLs, IPSec VPNs, 802.1X, WPA2/WPA3.
• Cisco DNA Center for centralized management and automation.
