General Ledger Accountant (RTR) with German

About the role

Lastminute.com, a European travel-tech leader in dynamic holiday packages, is looking for a General Ledger Accountant (RTR) fluent in German to join its Bucharest team of around 1,700 people. Reporting to the HQ team in Switzerland, the accountant contributes to the accounting closing of the legal entity recently created in Romania. The role is full-remote from Romania, within the Accountancy team of the Finance department, on a permanent contract, with about 10% travel time to the Swiss headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including payroll, invoicing and other transactions
• Register passive invoices using AI tools and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Perform accounting analyses and reporting to support decision-making
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules and support month-end and year-end closing
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles, both local and group-wide
• Liaise with the Finance Manager to improve financial procedures and assure tax compliance and tax deadlines
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns, and interact with internal and external auditors
• Identify gaps and improvements in processes to fix and automate with AI

Required profile

• Degree or certificate in Accounting, Business, Economics or a similar field
• At least 3-4 years in a similar role and/or in an audit firm
• Fluency in English and fluency in German, supporting the DACH market
• Good office knowledge
• Desirable: experience in travel agency accounting and tax legislation

Required skills

• Full accounting cycle, from journal entries to annual statutory financial statements
• Enthusiasm for AI tools and automation of accounting processes
• Desirable: experience with Microsoft Business Central (NAV) ERP software
