Freelance LCA Expert for Life Cycle Assessment Projects

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking experienced freelance LCA experts to deliver Life Cycle Assessment studies, Environmental Product Declarations and carbon footprint analyses for clients in Romania and the EU. The role offers technical autonomy and requires adherence to ISO 14040/44 and EU sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct full LCA studies (goal definition, scoping, inventory analysis, impact assessment) in line with ISO 14040/44.
• Gather and manage primary and secondary data from supply chains, ensuring traceability and quality.
• Develop detailed inventory models and perform impact calculations using methodologies such as ReCiPe, TRACI, CML or ILCD.
• Create and register Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) with recognized bodies.
• Calculate greenhouse‑gas emissions, prepare sustainability reports and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses, propose mitigation strategies and support client decision‑making.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of experience in LCA consulting or environmental assessment.
• ISO 14040/44 certified LCA practitioner (mandatory).
• Proficiency with LCA software (SimaPro, GaBi or OpenLCA).
• Familiarity with EU Environmental Footprint, PEF and GHG Protocol methodologies.
• Fluent in Romanian and English.
• Availability for call‑based freelance engagements.
