Cloud Engineer

About the role

As a member of the Cloud Engineering team, you will design, implement and operate an Azure‑based Kubernetes platform (AKS) that supports application teams across the organisation. You will ensure the platform is secure, scalable, reliable and easy to use, while collaborating with Architecture, Security, Application and Operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and operate Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters as a shared platform for application teams.
• Build and maintain infrastructure for CI/CD pipeline runners on AKS (Azure DevOps agents, GitHub Actions runners).
• Configure and manage AKS networking components, including load‑balancer controllers, DNS and TLS certificates.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting for the AKS platform, CI/CD runners and shared services.
• Manage the AKS cluster lifecycle (upgrades, scaling, patching, node‑pool management) with minimal downtime.
• Provide guidance on containerisation standards, resource requests/limits, Helm charts and Kubernetes manifests.
• Enforce security best practices such as RBAC, secrets management, image policies and scanning.
• Design and support backup and disaster‑recovery strategies for the platform and critical components.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience operating Kubernetes in production, preferably with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
