Wireless Engineer – Short Range Devices

About the role

HARMAN Automotive's Short Range Devices (SRD) team in SBU Connectivity is looking for a Wireless Engineer in Bucharest, Romania. SRD technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB, NFC and RFID are used in hands-free calls, carPlay, Android Auto, autonomous driving and passive keyless entry. The role supports the development and validation of wireless technologies across several projects, working closely with experienced engineers. It suits both recent graduates and experienced engineers, and the candidate reports to a manager in Karlsbad, Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and integration of short-range wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB, NFC, RFID)
• Work across multiple projects, covering different phases of wireless system development
• Collaborate with experienced engineers to apply RF and wireless engineering best practices
• Assist in RF measurements, debugging and performance analysis
• Support testing and validation in lab and development environments
• Analyze and troubleshoot wireless communication issues
• Contribute to technical documentation, test reports and design reviews
• Work with hardware, software, testing and system engineering teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, RF Engineering or a related field; recent graduates are welcome as junior engineers with mentorship
• For experienced candidates: proven experience in wireless engineering, RF system development or short-range communications, and independent project work
• Working knowledge of English, willingness to travel if needed, and a valid driver's license

Required skills

• Knowledge of wireless communication systems (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB, NFC, RFID) and RF/high-frequency engineering
• Analog and digital circuit design, digital interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, USB) and basic RF measurement equipment
• For juniors: Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW, basic Linux and scripting; for experienced engineers: test and validation, root cause analysis
