Staff Backend Engineer (Iasi)

About the role

Cresta is building a state‑of‑the‑art Customer Data Platform to deliver actionable insights for businesses. As a Staff Backend Engineer you will shape the backend architecture, work closely with data scientists and machine‑learning engineers, and help define how customers engage across all touch‑points.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain backend services and APIs that power Cresta’s customer‑insight applications.
• Build and optimise data storage solutions using PostgreSQL, ClickHouse and Elasticsearch for high‑performance, scalable analytics.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, data scientists and ML engineers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and tune performance of distributed systems and databases.
• Write clean, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, testing and CI pipelines.
• Ensure security, reliability and scalability of all backend services.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with strong database design and system‑architecture skills.
• Hands‑on expertise with ClickHouse (or similar columnar databases) for real‑time analytical queries.
• Experience using Elasticsearch for large‑scale indexing and search.
• Solid background in Python or Go development and RESTful API design.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, micro‑services architecture and cloud infrastructure.
