Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

About the role

Signicat, a pan-European digital identity company, is looking for a Java/Kotlin Engineer to join the team behind its MobileID and Digital Identity Wallet solutions. You will help build and scale secure, reliable services that support authentication, identity verification, payment confirmations and the issuing of digital credentials across Europe, working closely with other engineering teams to design and develop the core services and interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the microservices at the core of the MobileID and Digital Identity Wallet solutions.
• Own services end to end, from code and tests through deployment, monitoring and behaviour in production.
• Work on the delivery platform alongside the rest of the team.
• Strengthen security: threat modelling, keeping up with standards, and the authentication protocols and key handling of the product.
• Take part in architecture decisions and technical discussions within the team and across client and service teams.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Comfortable with Spring or a comparable JVM framework, and experienced designing REST APIs used by other teams.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or Google).
• Real experience running services on Kubernetes.
• Hands-on knowledge of relational databases, ideally MySQL; exposure to PostgreSQL or others is also relevant.
• A security instinct and demonstrated experience using AI tools in everyday work.
• Strong written and spoken English.
