Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Cresta is expanding its engineering hub in Cluj and seeks a senior backend software engineer to help build and continuously improve its AI‑driven platform that powers real‑time customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Play a substantial role in the Cresta engineering team, focusing on building and enhancing the platform to meet new product requirements.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to develop high‑quality, reusable, well‑tested system components.
• Stay closely aligned with customers, analyze technical trade‑offs, and own customer‑facing deliverables.
• Optimize platform design for lower latency, higher throughput, better reliability, and cost reduction.
• Demonstrate engineering best practices and uphold high standards across the team.
• Grow into technical ownership of significant parts of Cresta's product and platform.
• Contribute to building a best‑in‑class product and company.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in designing and maintaining robust APIs using protocols such as gRPC, REST, and WebSocket.
• Experience handling real‑time streaming data (audio or video) with high throughput and low latency.
• Familiarity with high‑performance database schema design and query optimization.
• Experience deploying containerized applications with Kubernetes.
• Hands‑on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
