Linux Kernel & BSP Software Validation Engineer

About the role

Join NXP's i.MX Software team in Bucharest to drive testing and validation of Linux BSPs for i.MX family microprocessors. You will work on kernel-level components and Yocto Linux images, ensuring high‑quality OS stacks.

Key responsibilities

• Design, write and maintain test plans, test cases and automated test scripts for Linux BSP projects.
• Execute tests, analyze failures, perform root‑cause analysis and report results.
• Collaborate with cross‑site stakeholders to define test strategies for new features.
• Develop and enhance validation frameworks and automated execution environments.
• Assist with board farm setup, maintenance and monitoring of test results.

Required profile

• Minimum 3‑4 years of experience in software validation or test engineering.
• Strong understanding of test methodologies, continuous integration and continuous testing processes.
• Team‑oriented, collaborative mindset with good communication skills.
• Willingness to work on security‑related tasks and follow reliable work practices.

Required skills

• Linux operating system experience.
• Scripting in Python and Bash.
• Version control and CI tools: Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Bamboo.
• Basic programming knowledge in C/C++ (plus).
• Familiarity with Yocto, Linux drivers/modules and hardware debugging (plus).
