Algorithm Engineer – Automotive Software

About the role

Compal is seeking a motivated Automotive Algorithm Engineer with strong C++ expertise to develop and optimize algorithms for image processing, computer vision, and deep learning in automotive applications. The role involves translating mathematical models into efficient software and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and validate C++ algorithms for perception, control, sensor fusion, and trajectory planning.
• Optimize algorithms for embedded platforms under real‑time constraints.
• Convert Python prototypes to C++ while ensuring accuracy.
• Collaborate with system architects, hardware teams, and data scientists for integration.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, performance profiling, and HIL/SIL validation.
• Document designs and test procedures according to automotive standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Applied Mathematics or related field.
• 2+ years of algorithm development experience, preferably in automotive.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++11+); good understanding of Python is a plus.
• Experience with real‑time or embedded systems development.
• Familiarity with automotive standards such as ISO 26262 or ASPICE is advantageous.
