Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Axon is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to shape the architecture of mission‑critical cloud services. You will work in an AI‑first environment, using advanced AI systems to guide design decisions, accelerate development, and improve reliability. The role is based in Bucharest with a hybrid schedule, fostering close collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture design reviews, integrating AI‑driven insights and system modeling.
• Set technical standards through code and architecture reviews, including evaluation of AI‑generated code.
• Mentor engineers on scalable system design and AI‑first development practices.
• Drive adoption of AI‑assisted development tools across the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver integrated solutions.
• Embed automation, AI tooling, and intelligent workflows into engineering processes.
• Build highly available, low‑latency services for mission‑critical environments.
• Leverage AI systems to optimize performance, observability, and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience designing and delivering highly‑available, scalable cloud‑based systems.
• Experience evaluating and integrating AI‑assisted development tools.

Required skills

• Backend development in Java, Scala, Go, or C#.
• Working with SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• Designing cloud architectures with high availability and low latency.
• Using AI‑assisted development tools to improve productivity and system design.
