Senior Cybersecurity Architect (Bucharest)

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space Romania is looking for a Senior Cybersecurity Architect to act as the strategic technical authority for critical systems, shaping resilient cyber architectures that support mission‑critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and oversee implementation of system‑wide security software across on‑premise and hybrid environments.
• Lead threat‑modeling sessions during design phases to identify, categorize and prioritize risks.
• Make key technology and integration decisions for the cybersecurity domain.
• Architect and champion Zero Trust frameworks, focusing on advanced Identity and Access Management and micro‑segmentation.
• Ensure all designs comply with regulatory requirements and standards such as NIST and ISO 27001.
• Provide expert guidance to security engineers and mentor junior architects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of IT experience, with at least 7 years in cybersecurity and security architecture.
• Professional certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISSP‑ISSAP or equivalent) are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of defence‑sector cybersecurity constraints, NATO or national regulations and accreditation processes.
• Excellent English communication and analytical skills.

Required skills

• Zero Trust Architecture, Identity and Access Management, micro‑segmentation.
• Threat modeling, security protocols, cryptography, application security.
• OS and database hardening, PKI, firewalls, proxies, Web Application Firewall.
• Virtualisation security (hypervisors, containers), DCS, Information Exchange Gateway.
• Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, and defence‑specific security standards.
