Senior AI Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer for Airbus Defence and Space Romania to design, build, integrate, and deploy production‑grade software applications powered by AI models. The role sits at the intersection of advanced AI and full‑stack software engineering, transitioning proof‑of‑concept models into scalable services and building modern Generative AI pipelines for security‑related projects.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate technical feasibility and translate client requirements into resilient, secure microservice architectures.
• Design and implement scalable REST/FastAPI endpoints for AI model serving.
• Build autonomous agentic systems with complex tool usage and multi‑modal Generative AI pipelines.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor junior engineers, and assist with recruitment interviews.
• Manage Kubernetes deployments, create automated CI/CD pipelines, and oversee container lifecycles.
• Optimize GPU/CPU utilization, including CUDA tuning and inference performance.
• Scout emerging AI and software technologies to continuously improve the tech stack.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of proven experience in software engineering and AI implementations.
• Strong background in AI principles, deep‑learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and Python.
• Expertise in object‑oriented design, SOLID principles, and secure JSON API development.
• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI frameworks (LangChain, Google ADK, vLLM) and vector databases (Qdrant, Milvus).
• Deep knowledge of container orchestration (OpenShift, Docker/Podman, Helm) and cloud‑native infrastructure.
• Experience with multi‑agent orchestration, RAG‑based applications, and prompt engineering at scale.
• Solid understanding of NLP concepts and practical experience with computer‑vision algorithms.
