Forestry Manager – Romania

About the role

Join an international organization that is redefining forest management worldwide. As the Forestry Manager for Romania, you will lead the expansion of certified forest areas, influence policy, and act as the national representative for sustainable forestry initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a national strategy to increase Forest Management certification across state forests, private lands, and smallholders.
• Grow certified forest area and certificate holders, creating group‑certification opportunities for fragmented ownership.
• Serve as the primary contact for forest owners, state forest administration, certification bodies, NGOs, and industry stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain relationships with the Ministry of Environment, parliamentary committees, Romsilva, and related institutions.
• Represent the organization in policy dialogues, conferences, and public forums at the national level.
• Support the implementation and evolution of the Forest Stewardship Standard for Romania, providing technical guidance.
• Coordinate standard and risk‑assessment development processes, ensuring balanced stakeholder inclusion.
• Deliver trainings, workshops, and engagement initiatives to promote the value of certification.
• Collaborate closely with European and global teams, sharing insights on risks, opportunities, and market developments.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of forest management, silviculture, and certification systems.
• Proven ability to develop and execute national growth strategies with measurable outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience influencing diverse stakeholders across government, industry, and civil society.
• Deep understanding of Romanian forest policy, regulatory environment, and ownership structures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
