Data Scientist – AI & Machine Learning

About the role

Garmin is building a new data and AI team to create innovative, data‑driven solutions for its outdoor products. The Data Scientist will work across the full lifecycle, from exploration and prototyping to deployment and monitoring, in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, product management and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver data‑driven solutions.
• Conduct advanced exploratory data analysis on large, complex datasets to uncover insights and trends.
• Experiment with cutting‑edge machine learning and AI techniques, including LLMs, RAG and MCP, and assess their applicability to product problems.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and workflows that support the end‑to‑end data science lifecycle.
• Define evaluation methodologies and metrics, monitor deployed models, and iterate to ensure robustness and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics) with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java, and solid experience with SQL databases.
• Proven expertise in designing machine learning systems and applying modern AI techniques.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex analytical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
