Senior UX/UI Designer – 2-Year Maternity Cover

About the role

METRO.digital, the digital arm of METRO, one of the world's leading international wholesalers in food, is looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to join its team on a 2-year maternity cover contract. The role takes ownership of UX and UI design across employee-facing digital products, working closely with Squad Leads, engineers and business stakeholders to turn complex operational problems into intuitive digital experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end design process, from understanding user and business needs to delivery and iteration
• Translate complex operational workflows into simple, intuitive and efficient user experiences
• Collaborate with squad leads to influence product direction and prioritization
• Use customer feedback, product data and research to inform design decisions
• Conduct user research and usability testing when needed to validate assumptions and solutions
• Design mobile and web experiences, including wireframes, prototypes and UI designs
• Work with engineers during development and support the implementation of designs
• Facilitate workshops and alignment sessions with stakeholders and communicate design decisions and trade-offs clearly

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in B2B/Workforce UX design (research, interaction design, UI design)
• Strong end-to-end product design experience in complex digital products
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, building relationships across teams and advocating for good experiences while respecting business priorities and technical constraints
• Nice to have: B2B, enterprise or internal tools experience; retail, logistics, supply chain or inventory experience; UX research and usability testing experience; analytics and customer satisfaction data experience; interest in AI-powered products

Required skills

• Excellent design tool skills, such as Figma
• Experience with design systems and reusable components
• Experience designing native mobile apps and/or responsive web products
• Experience in Agile, cross-functional product teams
• Data-informed approach, using customer feedback and product data to support design decisions
